Sophia Lin is a Chinese Canadian filmmaker and cinematographer based between Los Angeles and Calgary, Canada. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University in December 2023 with a BA in Film & Media Studies and Cognitive Science. Her feature script (previously titled FOURSCORE) was a semifinalist for the 2023 Humanitas Prizes' Carol Mendelsohn College Drama Award and one of four projects to receive a 2023-24 Screenplay Development Grant from the Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund.Her work as a writer, director, and producer has been funded by Johns Hopkins University, the Rubys Artist Grants, and the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, as well as received the Freedman Creative Media Award, JHU ASPIRE Grant, and JHU Provost's Undergraduate Research Award. Her debut short film RED PRIOR is currently in the festival circuit after premiering at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY). She has worked at FilmNation Entertainment, Temple Hill Entertainment, and more. In fall of 2023, she was selected as one of six fellows for the Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund Screenplay Lab.
